Grenada’s flag uses red, yellow and green with seven yellow stars and a small nutmeg symbol near the hoist. It was adopted when Grenada became independent in 1974.

What does the Grenada flag look like?

A red border surrounds a field divided into yellow and green triangles. Six stars appear in the red border and a seventh sits in a red disc at the centre. A stylised nutmeg appears on the hoist-side green triangle.

The seven stars represent Grenada’s seven parishes and dependencies. The nutmeg reflects the country’s historic importance as a producer of the spice. Green is associated with vegetation and agriculture, yellow with sunlight and wisdom, and red with courage and vitality.
