Cameroon’s national flag is a vertical green-red-yellow tricolour with a yellow five-pointed star in the centre of the red band.

Meaning

The flag uses Pan-African colors. Green is associated with the forests and southern regions, yellow with the sun and northern savannas, and red with national unity. The central yellow star is known as the Star of Unity.

History

Cameroon first adopted a green-red-yellow tricolour before independence. Earlier federal versions used additional stars, while the current single-star design was introduced in 1975 after the country became a unitary state.
