Seychelles has one of the world’s most dynamic flag designs: five colored bands radiate diagonally from the lower hoist corner in blue, yellow, red, white and green.
Meaning
Blue represents the sky and sea, yellow the sun, red the people and their determination, white social justice and harmony, and green the land and natural environment. The expanding diagonal pattern suggests a young country moving into the future.
History
The current flag was adopted in 1996 after constitutional changes and replaced earlier party-influenced designs.
