How to Draw the Saint Lucia Flag

Use the official 2:1 proportions and the government’s triangle geometry to reproduce the flag more accurately.

1

Start with a 2:1 rectangle

The Government of Saint Lucia specifies flag dimensions such as 6 ft × 3 ft and 9 in × 4½ in, which are both a 2:1 length-to-height ratio.

For a digital drawing, a 1200 × 600 px canvas is a convenient equivalent.

2

Set the central triangle base

The official description says the triangles share a common base equal to one-third of the full flag length. Center that base horizontally near the lower portion of the flag.

3

Build the three-layer triangle device

Place a tall white triangle first, then a slightly narrower black triangle on top of it, and finally the shorter gold triangle in front. The black form terminates in the characteristic pointed central peak.

The layering order matters because the white border must remain visible on both sides of the black triangle.

4

Match the official spacing

Government specifications state that the visible white margin is 1½ inches on each side in the standard large construction, and the vertical distance between the black and white peaks is 4 inches. When scaling the flag, keep these relationships proportional.

Practical approach: for informal drawings, preserve the overall proportions and visual balance. For official reproduction, use the government artwork and dimensional specifications as the controlling reference.
