Trinidad and Tobago’s national flag is red with a black diagonal band running from the upper hoist to the lower fly, edged on both sides in white. It was adopted at independence in 1962.

The field is bright red. A broad black diagonal stripe cuts across the flag and is separated from the red by two narrow white borders.

The design was selected as Trinidad and Tobago prepared to become independent from the United Kingdom. It first became the national flag on August 31, 1962.
