Djibouti’s national flag has light blue and green horizontal bands with a white triangle at the hoist containing a red five-pointed star.

Meaning

Blue is associated with the sea and sky and with the Somali Issa community, while green is linked with the land and the Afar community. White represents peace and the red star national unity and independence.

History

The flag was adopted on June 27, 1977 when Djibouti became independent from France.
