Mongolia’s national flag is a vertical red-blue-red tricolour with a golden Soyombo symbol on the hoist-side red band. The current democratic-era design dates from the early 1990s.

History of the flag

Earlier socialist-era flags included a star above the Soyombo. After Mongolia’s democratic transition, the communist star was removed in 1992, leaving the present red-blue-red design with the traditional emblem.
