What do the colors represent?
The colors are part of the Pan-Arab tradition and are historically associated with major Islamic dynasties: black with the Abbasids, white with the Umayyads and green with the Fatimids. Red is linked with the Hashemite dynasty and the Arab Revolt.
Why seven points?
The seven-pointed star is commonly associated with the seven verses of the opening chapter of the Quran and with ideals of Arab unity.
