Flag Explorers is an independent educational reference site about national flags, their symbols, colors, proportions, history and official use.

What we publish

Our country guides explain what a flag looks like, what its elements represent, how the design developed and, where reliable documentation exists, its official dimensions, colors and display rules. We also publish focused guides on flag history, construction, coats of arms and national symbols.

How we research

We prioritize primary and authoritative sources, including national governments, legislation, constitutions, ministries, presidential offices, national archives and official protocol documents. When an official source does not answer a question, we use reputable historical and vexillological references and distinguish documented facts from popular interpretations.

Corrections and updates

Flags, laws and official standards can change. We review pages when new official information becomes available and correct factual errors when they are identified. Important claims are supported with source links whenever practical.
