Kosovo’s state flag has a blue field with a gold map of Kosovo beneath an arc of six white stars. It was introduced at the time of Kosovo’s declaration of independence in February 2008.
What does the Kosovo flag look like?
The design is blue with a gold silhouette map at the centre and six white five-pointed stars arranged in an arc above it. The flag was deliberately designed as a new state symbol rather than simply adopting the flag of any one ethnic community.
When was the flag adopted?
The flag was selected through a design process connected with Kosovo’s new state institutions and came into use with the declaration of independence on February 17, 2008. Kosovo’s 2008 law identifies the flag, emblem and anthem as state symbols representing the Republic and its state identity.
