Namibia’s national flag has a blue upper field and green lower field separated by a red diagonal band edged in white. A golden sun appears in the upper hoist corner.
Meaning
Blue represents the sky, Atlantic Ocean and water resources; green the country’s vegetation and agriculture; red the people and their determination; and white peace and unity. The golden sun represents life and energy.
History
The flag was selected during preparations for independence and first raised when Namibia became independent on March 21, 1990.
